I’ve been skiing since I was 5 & every winter taught me the same thing: staying hydrated in the cold is a struggle. Lodge stops, long water lines, bulky bottles - none of it worked.
When hydration packs arrived, I switched instantly. they worked great on warm days, but freezing is an issue. Neoprene sleeves helped for a run or two, but “ice-cube tube” always won.
As friends upgraded their ski setup to include heated socks and gloves, I kept thinking: Why isn’t there a heated hydration tube? I searched everywhere and found nothing, so I bought USB glove heater liners and tried hacking one together. It worked OK, but not amazing or consistently so I just used those as heated glove liners. I continued to try and solve the issue in my head, but was missing a few key components.
Then in winter 2024, snowshoeing to another Colorado hut with my friend Josh, I noticed something on his pack - a hydration tube with a power button. I tuned to him and asked:
Me: “Josh, is that a heated hydration tube?”
Josh: “Yes.”
I was so excited! I’d been trying to build this for years. Right there on the trail, I asked if he wanted to partner up and bring this to adventurers everywhere.
He said yes.
