For skiers and riders

Ever Sip™ for Skiing and Snowboarding

A lift-served day is harder on a hydration tube than a skin track, and it usually fails on run two or three. Built and tested on Colorado's mountains, with Breckenridge as our home hill.

Lift rides are the cold part

Skiing down generates heat. Sitting still on a chairlift at altitude, damp with sweat, with wind moving across you, does the opposite. Your tube spends a large share of the day stationary in moving air, which is close to a worst case for heat loss.

Why it fails on run two

The first sip primes the tube. Before you drink there is nothing in it to freeze; the moment you pull water up and do not swallow all of it, that water is sitting in the coldest, most exposed part of your kit. On a cold morning one lift ride is enough.

What to expect

Connect before the first lift, not after the tube has chilled. A 10,000 mAh bank covers about 12 hours, longer than the lifts run. If the afternoon warms above freezing, unplug and save the charge.

A resort day

What to do
Before the first lift Connect the cable and route it inside your pack
Power bank 10,000 mAh, in an inside pocket where the cold cannot eat it
Through the day Drink little and often; nothing else to remember
Above freezing Unplug and save the charge
Minimum temperature −1°F / −18.3°C

Common questions

Will it get in the way when I am moving fast?

The Ever Flex System™ keeps the assembly pliable below freezing, which matters most on a descent. A tube that has gone rigid catches on your jacket and fights your shoulder strap.

Does it fit my pack?

It replaces the tube and bite valve on the pack you already own, at the standard 0.292 inch diameter, with versions for standard reservoirs, HydraPak® and Osprey Hydraulics™.

Which power bank do you recommend?

Any 5V USB bank works. A 10,000 mAh bank runs Ever Sip™ for about 12 hours, which covers a full resort day. Here is one we have used and can recommend: Anker 10,000 mAh power bank with USB-C and USB-A output. Keep it in an inside pocket, not the hip belt.
